Black cardamom is popular in the oriental cuisine for flavoring soups, meat dishes, marinade. Like green cardamom it is often added to tea.
Cardamon black seeds have a strong aroma and a spicy taste with a shade of smoke obtained during the drying process over an open flame. This spice increases the taste and smell of other spices during cooking.
Black cardamom is not so suitable for sweet dishes as green cardamom.
Black cardamon is also widely used in Ayurveda. It has an antimicrobial, analgesic and antioxidant effect, stimulates the activity of the heart and liver. In classical medicine, it is used to treat stomatitis as a knitting for intestinal disorders, sleeping powders and stimulating appetite. It is used in large doses in the treatment of neuralgia. In traditional Chinese medicine, black cardamom is used to treat digestion.
According to Ayurvedic texts, it helps with thirst, nausea and vomiting, cough and skin diseases.
